This is mostly an ink with acrylic painting. The image is a shout out to the creator of "Madeline", John Bemelmans, and the photographer, Andre Kertesz. The painting is meant to demonstrate an early childhood moment of departure towards independence, an act of deviance. I thought it might look nice as a cover for The New Yorker.
Great stuff Matt!! Love your style! :D

ReplyDeleteThanks. This piece is tucked into ArtCenter's online gallery, within the Illustration section. I found out they were using it almost by accident (sneaky devils)
